SPENCE (UGHTV Founder): For the last 6 weeks I’ve spent every waking hour outside of my day job designing, programming, and bringing on-line my first website… from the ground up…. learning how to do it, as I was doing it. I had a little help from a few people when I ran into trouble with some coding, but the designing and building was done by myself.

I’m not a web developer, a programmer or a coder, and 6 weeks ago I only knew the bare basics about websites (and I’m still learning) … but I had an idea in my head of how I wanted this website to look and operate, and I dove into the deep end. To put even more pressure on myself, I set a deadline of the first week of May to have the website on-line, and I made that deadline public to the DJs on Undergroundhouse.tv.

Here it is… I’m still tweaking it, seeing what works and what doesn’t. I am also seeking writers interested in contributing to our new blog that is currently in development. This blog will be discontinued at some point down the road.  Please contact info@undergroundhouse.tv for more details! The show starts at 10pm sharp as ChiTownVibes co-host MR. FABULOUS – DJ FM lights up the decks with his infectious house-dope, followed by a set dropped by multi-genre mixologist MYKE SHYTOWNE, then taking us home will be DJ MERO coming with new original releases and freshly returned from a successful WMC trip. As always, there is NO COVER.  21+  Be sure to ask Spencer or those associated with UGHTV for the special password which will allow all attendees of this event to get into OHM Nightclub for free (the old Red Dog spot @ 1958 W. North Avenue, open until 4am)

Dennis Ferrer was kicked off the decks at uber-douchebag Miami nightclub Mansion this past weekend for not playing “commercial enough” house music.  

What moron would book a house legend like Ferrer if they were so concerned about appealing to the no-nothings and douchebags/ douchebaguettes???  You’ve got to read the story as it was written up over on Miami New Times.

I haven’t been on here for a minute…I hope everyone is well.
Gettin’ taken off decks is quite a sobering and humbling experience and
one i shall not want to be repeated. No matter who you might be. It
seems as though it was what it was. Kinda funny in the end.

Now some of y’all will say…”but D…why take that booking?” explanation as follows…

it was reported that they were willing to try a bit of a directional
reversal. It was even twittered by many as so….We had played there
twice before trying to develop something and it seemed to be working
out..but people come and people go and directions get switched in an
hour! LOL.

I threw my hands up and got asked to be off after around 40 minutes…no
harm no foul..I laughed..tweeted.. got over my initial anger and kept
it moving. Sad though to see tons of beautiful young people being force
fed what I tend to believe is a misrepresentation of the EDM culture.
But wtf.. who am I to say what sounds good and doesn’t…everyone has
got opinions like they have what again? lol.

Oh and regarding the interview…just wanted to say that no disrespect
was intended. Those who know me know I try my best not to be a d*ck. I
come from the same scene and please believe me when I say my heart is
still here …I’d love nothing better than to do my best imitation of
Burt Bacharach and do complex orchestrations to the chants of Orixas but
reality is a true bitch. Simple. Just being honest.

To hear that this can happen to a legend like Dennis Ferrer makes me believe that some way, some how…. it is time for the true house-heads and the DJs they love to REBOOT THE WHOLE DAMN CLUB SCENE! FIND AND DEVELOP UNDERGROUND HOUSE SHOWS IN NEW VENUES IN YOUR COMMUNITIES, AND SUPPORT THE SHOWS. BREAK FREE OF THE CLIQUES THAT MAY HAVE THE GOOD PLACES LOCKED DOWN… START NEW SCENES.  The equipment many not be good at these places.. you may have to bring your own…. but if you can find a bar owner willing to give your HOUSE SHOW a shot… TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. CREATE NEW SCENES.

• You ask for a song that nobody will dance to.
• You tell the DJ he sucks just because he won’t play your song.
• The only songs you know are line dances.
• You want to hear every song by Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.
• You complain that no one likes the song when the dance floor is full.
• You think reserving a table turns the DJ into your own jukebox.
• You ask to sing on the microphone like it’s karaoke night.

• You grab or touch equipment while the DJ is playing.

• You are so drunk you think the DJ booth is the bar.
• You stay by the DJ booth hoping to pick up women.
• You keep trying to tell the DJ your life story while we are mixing.
• You think you know what everyone wants to hear.
• You ask for a song to be played again 5 minutes after hearing it.
• You say you know the owner/manager in an attempt to get a song played.
• You ask for the same song every time you are there.
• You take pictures of the DJ without warning him of the flash.
• You’re so drunk you keep falling into the DJ booth.
• You spill a drink on the DJ equipment.
• You ask that the volume be turned down.
• You keep trying to get the DJ to dance with you.
• You tell the DJ what songs go together that don’t go together.

• You stand by the DJ and stare awkwardly.
• You think it’s cool to just stand on the dance floor and text.
• You have to talk louder than the music by the DJ booth.
• You think the DJ booth is a coat check.
• You offer to tip but never do.
• You run ladies off the dance floor.
• You wear so much cologne/perfume the DJ’s eyes water.
• You ask us to play songs off your phone or download them.
• You keep asking for a shout out all night long.
• You want us to play a song you made.
• You act like the DJ is your boyfriend when he is not.

• Instead of asking for a song you stick a phone in our face to show us.
• You don’t know the song just the number on the CD.
• You get all of your friends to ask for the same song that we won’t play.
• You interrupt the DJ to get him to take your picture.

• Your idea of good music isn’t.
• You think old school means 5 year ago.
• You ask when do we start to playing something crunk.
• When you hear a slow jam you think it’s a signal to hump women like a dog.
• If it isn’t hip hop you just call it techno.
• You keep asking for requests after the club closes.
• You know the DJ and text him requests to get you in the door.
• You know the DJ is working and you call over and over expecting an answer.
• You ask for a song and stay at the booth until the DJ plays it.
• You fart by the DJ booth.
• You want something faster but are requesting something slower.
• You keep trying to fist bump and high five the DJ.
• You say the other DJ always plays your song when there is no other DJ.

You act worse than a 5 year old in the club.
You say you are spending a ton of money and we should play your songs regardless.
You want an in-depth explanation on how the equipment works.
Your requests are more like demands.
You vomit in or around the DJ booth.
You tell the DJ how bad the song playing is , then request an even worse one.
You ask the DJ to play something with a beat.
You threaten to get the manager to make you play a song.
Your song was played but you want it again because you were in the bathroom.
