Born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Dee Jay E! was mesmerized by the music at a very early age. “My mother was a huge music fan. She listened to all types of music and took her music very seriously. She would make these tapes and put them on a reel-to-reel and music would play all day long, continuously, in our house. You could always tell that day, what type of mood she was in by the music she played.”

Hip Hop had a large influence in Dee Jay E’s life during his early years as rap made it’s way to the scene. With music already deeply embedded into his DNA, and after his mother gave him, as a present, his first turntable, it wasn’t long before Dee Jay E! found himself spinning the latest vinyl for all his friends and family. “Sometimes I would put a speaker in the window of my apartment and have the entire neighbourhood gather and party on the side walk underneath my apartment.”

Not long after receiving his first residency at a club in Newark, NJ, Dee Jay E! found himself listening to Lil’ Louie Vegas on WBLS.  While he was DJing at this club, he would sneak out in between sets to listen to Lil Louie Vega and Dee Jay E! became hooked.”It was something about the music and the way he played that made me first become interested in House Music.”  Dee Jay E! paid his dues by mixing in local bars, playing at weddings, having his mixed tapes available in stores, hitting the local house music parties, and hosting one of the original online mix shows called “Underground Sessions” which he brought to his large audience every Sunday night, along with host Antoine “the Voice of Soul.”

Dee Jay E! is also the founder and president of Attach Culture which features all of the most popular House Music t-shirts that you see everyone in house music wearing. “I love to wear t-shirts and wanted to represent my music but I could never find a t-shirt that was larger than a size XL. So, since there weren’t any made for the big guy, I figured I’d make them myself.” And that is how All E Gear started under Attach Culture. Dee Jay E!’s designs became an instant hit and are worn all over the world by all of house music’s top DJ’s and all of those that love House Music.
